Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of American cheese
- 1/2 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1/2 cup tomato, sliced
- 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 pickle slices
- Ketchup and mustard, to taste
- Salt and pepper, to season
Instructions:
Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties
Season both sides with salt and pepper
Grill the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare or to your preferred doneness
During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of American cheese to each patty and allow it to melt
While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until they are golden brown
Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a burger patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, red onion slices, and a pickle slice
Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the buns and place them on top of the assembled burgers
Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes and enjoy!
