This cheesy potato gratin is a tasty and comforting side dish made with thinly sliced potatoes, parsnips, carrots, and onions. It is baked in a creamy sauce and has cheese melted on top.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 parsnips, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups grated cheese cheddar or gruyere
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing

Instructions:

Before you start cooking, heat the oven to 375F 190C

Put butter in a baking dish

Put the sliced onions, parsnips, carrots, and potatoes in a baking dish

The slices should be stacked on top of each other and overlapping

Grate half of the cheese and sprinkle it over the vegetables

Put the heavy cream and minced garlic in a small saucepan

Set it over medium-low heat and stir it around a few times

Spread the hot cream mixture out over the vegetables

Add pepper and salt

Put foil over the baking dish and bake for 40 minutes

Open the oven door, add the rest of the cheese, and then close the door again

For another 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the vegetables are soft, bake the dish

Before you serve it, let it cool down for a while
